چکیده
Honeysuckle (Lonicera japonica Thunb.) is a traditional Chinese medicinal crop and belongs to the glycophyte with certain salt tolerance. This study aimed deeply dissect its adaptability by contrasting photosynthesis, photoinhibition oxidative damage under moderate severe iso-osmotic (150 300 mM NaCl) drought (19.3 % 28 PEG-6000) stresses hydroponic protocol. Photosynthesis was more susceptible stress than in honeysuckle according drought-induced greater decrease photosynthetic rate. In contrast salt-induced mild PS? PSI photoinhibition, photosystem II (PS?) I (PSI) arose upon stress, indicated decreased maximal photochemical efficiency of remarkable loss their reaction center proteins. However, interaction hardly contributed stability apparatus because finite restriction on electron flow from PSI. Consistent photosystems leaf lipid peroxidation, H2O2 production electrolyte leakage were elevated much confirming honeysuckle. Furthermore, principal components analysis comprehensively showed higher due larger cluster separation stress. As an apparent reason, could prevent tremendous water had capacity dispose accumulated Na+. Therefore, resembles halophytes this respect seems appropriate for planting coastal saline land.

Contrasting photosynthesis and photoinhibition in tetraploid and its autodiploid honeysuckle (Lonicera japonica Thunb.) under salt stress
Honeysuckle (Lonicera japonica Thunb.) is a popular landscape plant. This study was to explore leaf photosynthetic characterization with emphasis on the coordination between photosystem II (PSII) and photosystem I (PSI) in tetraploid and its autodiploid honeysuckle (TH and DH) upon salt stress (300 mM NaCl). Leaf photosynthetic rate and carboxylation efficiency in DH and TH were significantly d...
متن کاملEffects on physiological characteristics of Honeysuckle (Lonicera japonica Thunb) and the role of exogenous calcium under drought stress
Lonicera japonica Thunb as the traditional Chinese herb is widely planted in southwestern China to harness rocky desertification due to its adaptability to the rock-desertificated environment. However, how the drought stress limits the Lonicera japonica Thunb’s physiological and photosynthetic characteristics is not clear. Therefore, a series of pot-cultivation experiments were dealt/performed ...
متن کاملSalinity Stress Is Beneficial to the Accumulation of Chlorogenic Acids in Honeysuckle (Lonicera japonica Thunb.)
Honeysuckle (Lonicera japonica Thunb.) is a traditional medicinal plant in China that is particularly rich in chlorogenic acids, which are phenolic compounds with various medicinal properties. This study aimed to examine the effects of salinity stress on accumulation of chlorogenic acids in honeysuckle, through hydroponic experiments and field trials, and to examine the mechanisms underlying th...
متن کاملNatural Enemies of Japanese Honeysuckle, Lonicera Japonica, in New Zealand
Japanese honeysuckle is rapidly increasing as a weed throughout most of the North Island and northern South Island of New Zealand. A classical biological control programme was initiated in 2004–2005 with a survey of the natural invertebrate fauna and pathogens associated with the weed in New Zealand. The honeysuckle was being attacked by a diverse range of native and introduced invertebrates. B...
متن کاملHormetic Responses of Lonicera Japonica Thunb. To Cadmium Stress
The hormetic responses of Lonicera japonica Thunb. to cadmium (Cd) stress were investigated in a hydroponic experiment. The present results showed that root length and total biomass dry weight increased in comparison with the control at low concentrations Cd. The height of the plant exposed to 2.5 and 5 mg L(-1) Cd increased significantly by 11.9% and 12.8% relative to the control, and with the...
